Congratulations Ally Capriotti!
Big Brothers Big Sisters Association of Florida is proud to recognize Ally Capriotti of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Florida as Florida’s Big Sister of the Year. For nearly a decade, Ally has represented the very best of youth mentoring through her unwavering consistency, deep compassion, and joyful commitment to her Little, Abby.
Ally began her journey as a Big Sister nine years ago with a simple but powerful belief. As she explains, “one reliable, caring adult can make a lasting difference in a young person’s journey.” From that first meeting, she committed to being present, patient, and fully invested for the long haul.
Growing Up Together
When Ally and Abby were first matched, Abby was a quiet and shy five-year-old. Year by year, with Ally’s encouragement and steady support, Abby grew into a confident, expressive, and determined young teen. Through seasons of challenge and change, Ally remained a constant source of reassurance, helping Abby recognize her strengths and build belief in herself.
Their relationship is filled with traditions that have become anchors over time. Every year, Ally shows up to celebrate Abby’s birthday at the jump park. They swap stories, laugh easily, and enjoy simple rituals like hunting for coupons together, a running joke Abby never lets Ally forget.
Abby says it best. Ally is “the most kind, giving, hilarious person.”
Encouragement That Opens Doors
Because someone consistently believed in her, Abby learned to believe in herself. With Ally cheering her on, she pursued her love of running and now ranks among the top middle school cross country and track athletes in Florida. Abby carries forward the same generosity she experiences in her match, supporting teammates and looking for ways to help others succeed alongside her.
A Role Model in Every Way
Ally’s leadership reaches beyond her match. She is a proud ambassador for Big Brothers Big Sisters, volunteering her time, representing the program in the community, and even participating in a national campaign that elevated the importance of mentorship across the country. Her reliability and heart make her a trusted example of what it means to be a Big.
At its core, Ally and Abby’s story is about what becomes possible when a young person knows someone will keep showing up. Confidence grows. Goals expand. Futures open.
Be Part of a Story Like This
Across Florida, many young people are waiting for a mentor who will offer the same consistency and care that Ally has given for nine years. Becoming a Big means building a friendship that can spark resilience, opportunity, and lifelong impact.
Ally Capriotti’s commitment reminds us that mentorship is powerful not because of grand gestures, but because of the promise to be there again tomorrow, and the day after that.
