The Big Brothers Big Sisters Association of Florida is pleased to announce the winners of our 2023 Bigs of the Year award. Our congratulations go to Carlos Bates, Big Brother of the Year from BBBS of the Sun Coast and Becca Thomas, the Big Sister of the Year from BBBS of Northeast Florida. Carlos and Becca were selected out of a group of over 9,000 Bigs that serve our mentoring matches with children throughout the state of Florida.

Carlos has been matched with his Little Brother, Mihretu for 6 years and Becca has been matched with her Little Sister, Ty’Lasjah for 4 years. Both Carlos’ and Becca’s match relationships exemplify the positive impact that long term one to-one mentoring has on our children.

Carlos and Becca will represent Florida for the National Big Brother and Sister of the award to be named in June of 2023. We wish them the best of luck!
