Big Brothers Big Sisters Association of Florida (BBBSAF) is a strategic partner to 11 local Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies, serving youth from Pensacola to Key West.

We don’t run local mentoring programs, we strengthen them. Our job is to amplify the power of mentoring across Florida by securing resources, advocating for impact, and supporting agencies with the tools they need to thrive. Together, we are changing lives and transforming communities through the proven power of one-to-one mentoring.

MISSION

Big Brothers Big Sisters Association of Florida is dedicated to igniting the power of mentoring across the state by increasing resources and expanding opportunities for our 11 local nonprofit affiliates. We support the growth and sustainability of evidence-based youth mentoring programs that change lives and communities. From Pensacola to Key West, each affiliate delivers life-changing, one-to-one mentoring relationships for youth facing adversity, supported by trained adult volunteers and professional staff. Together, we ignite the potential of young people through safe, impactful connections, changing perspectives and changing lives through the power of mentorship and community volunteering.

Our Strategy

We are focused on expanding access to high-quality, evidence-based mentoring for youth across the state. Through coordinated efforts in funding, advocacy, training, and strategic alignment, we strengthen Florida’s youth mentoring ecosystem, making it more effective, sustainable, and equitable.

We unify our 11 BBBS agencies to share best practices, resources, and data, building a unified voice and stronger outcomes for Florida's youth. Annually, BBBSAF hosts a statewide conference that serve as a time for learning, collaboration, and relationship-building.

Collaboration & Capacity Building

We build relationships with changemakers and policymakers that have the influence to expand access to mentoring and prioritize the needs of young people across the state.

Advocacy for Youth Mentoring

We secure and manage statewide funding, grants, and partnerships to fuel the work of local agencies. BBBSAF serves as the lead organizer and manager of over $8,000,000 in State funding that is distributed each year to our local affiliates.

Resource & Fund Development

We ensure transparency and efficiency in how statewide resources are used, always with a focus on impact and equity.

Accountability

We open doors for young people by connecting them with scholarships and post-secondary pathways for long-term success.

Scholarships

We invest in tools, training, and partnerships that help our network to grow and respond to evolving needs in youth mentoring.
